The Art of Spyros Georgas

Spyros Georgas was born in Athens in 1958. He took some drawing lessons with G. Kouzounis and he continued his studies on free painting in the School of Fine Arts of Florence and Bologna. The fact that he coexisted with T. Alamanos played a
dramatic role for his career.
He illustrated children’s books and he produced posters for plays, music festivals in America and he created material for advertisements.

He has written a study on the exceptionalities of the color in Nature and in art. He has recently written three books about the life and work of K. Parthenis, G. Tsarouchis and G. Bouzianis which is a part of a series of books-albums that will be completed with another thirteen volumes on great Greek painters (Finatec editions). He has also been preparing candidates for the School of Fine Arts of Athens for several years.

His endoplasmic pursuits have escaped the two-dimensional space of painting during the last few years and his study has focused on the use of solid materials, such as marble, wood, metal, glass, chemical mixtures, as well as combinations of multi-media, while his artistic course is sealed with interventions in new multi-leveled spaces.
After walking through Asia – Odyssos, Trapezounda, Erzerum and Caspian Sea – in 1995-96, he has gained vital experience for him and his work.

His works can be found in public galleries and in public as well as in private collections both in Greece and abroad.
He lives and works in Athens.
